How do I get started?
You can choose the pricing package that fits your goals and budgets and sign up on the pricing page. You can pick your username and password for the website during the checkout and signup process. You can request to schedule your first session after successfully making a payment and signing up. An Educational Director will be assigned to you and will confirm your first session scheduling. If you are signing up for an enrichment program, you may be asked to take an assessment test prior to the first session for the tutor to evaluate the starting point.
What credentials, certifications, and/or degrees do your tutors hold? Our tutors are certified teachers, retired teachers or experienced private tutors. We check references, conduct a background check, interview all tutors, and randomly observe their sessions. Our tutors have experience teaching
children of similar ages and learning styles to your child. Many of our tutors are trained and familiar with strategies that work best with your child's special needs. We also conduct on-going professional development trainings to provide tutors support, new knowledge within their subjects, tutoring and learning processes.
How long will it take for my child's results to improve at school?
You child will start improving significantly almost immediately. Your child will be more confident and show improved academic skills and results according to his/her learning abilities.
Do you recommend continuing tutoring services over the summer months? Our education experts always advice parents to give the opportunity to your child to get academic support throughout the year and consider enrichment programs in Math and Language Arts over the summer. Research shows that over the summer children forget almost 40% of the learned contents. Summer months are also the perfect time to focus on academic weaknesses and get prepared for next grade.
How I decide what plan is best for my child?
The plan that is right for you fits your goals and your budget. If you are looking for one time homework help, the one-time 60 minute sessions are probably right for you. If you are looking for review or enrichment within a subject or subjects, then we recommend picking the unlimited monthly plan. We also have cost-effective 3 month, 6 month, and 12 month plans. Please contact us if you are interested in any of these, or you can select these while you are checking out.
How will the tutor measure my child’s needs and progress? We use state-aligned computerized adaptive tests that accurately reflect the instructional levels of each student and measure growth over time. Tutors use this information to plan appropriate instruction for student and monitor academic growth over time.
How long is each tutoring session?
Tutoring sessions under all other plans are typically 50 minutes in duration. The time
will start with the clock hour you scheduled. Tutors use the last five to ten minutes of each session to wrap up and review the content covered in that session.
How many sessions of tutoring do I get in the monthly package? Is there any limit? We offer unlimited sessions, 24x7 with the monthly package. A student can book three sessions in advance with his/her
tutor.
Do you work with learning disabled or special needs children? Yes, our tutors receive special training to understand their needs and how to adapt each tutoring session to ensure your child’s success. Our tutors modify the teaching plan within subjects to meet your child’s needs.
What if my child doesn't like the tutor? If, after the first session is complete, you do not think the tutor is a good match with your child, please contact us and
we will make the arrangements to change the tutor for future sessions. You are allowed to change your tutor any number of times.
As a parent, what do I need to do to reinforce my child’s learning? Our tutors set high expectations for their students learning. To meet those expectations we expect parents to provide study materials (reference books, dictionaries, paper, pencils) for tutoring sessions and after the session for practice. You can also check your child’s session history online for the tutor’s comments on subject matter covered, and subject
matter upcoming. Some experts say that learning sometimes requires multiple repetitions before it is absorbed.
Encourage your child to do their best while practicing their assignments.
Do I need a separate account for each of my children? Yes, you need a separate account for each child because the content matter and learning plan is designed specifically for each child’s needs, age, and learning ability. We also establish progress histories for each child separately.
How do I cancel or change my plan? Please login to your account to request to cancel or change your plan.
What type of computer do I need to use the homework help service?
We recommend that you have at least a 56K modem and 128Mb of Ram, and require that you have a microphone and headset, and a mouse. You will also need to have the most current version of Flash Player installed. Speakers will allow your child to hear the tutor speak and a microphone will allow your child to speak to their tutor. A digital pen and pad is also highly recommended for Math and Science students.
