1. When will I tutor?
Our online tutoring services are available to students 24 hours X 7 days a week. The peak hours for tutoring services are 6:00PM to 10:00PM ET from Monday through Thursday. It is mandatory for the tutor to be online during their scheduled sessions. If a tutor wants to cancel or change the schedule sessions he/she can notify us (at least one hour prior to schedule session).

2. Are there a minimum number of hours per week that I am expected to tutor?
Yes, we require commitments from our tutors for at least five hours of online tutoring a week. You have the ability to choose the days and hours that you are available at the time that you apply. If you are selected as one of our tutors, you have the ability to change your availability by contacting us in advance of scheduled sessions.

3. Can I tutor a session whenever I want?
No, we schedule sessions based on a student's learning requirements matched to an available tutor. You are expected to be available for all scheduled tutoring sessions. If you want to change your availability schedule and/or remove or add sessions from your schedule, please give us advance notice and we will adjust your schedule according to your availability and student demand

4. How soon can I start tutoring after I am certified by Grades Grow Tutors?
After you complete training, post-training assessments and mock sessions and are certified to tutor with us, we will match you with students requiring tutoring assistance in your content areas. Scheduling is based on student demand for your content area and for you as a tutor. There may be a waiting period after certification before you are assigned your first student.

5. Where does tutoring take place?
All tutoring takes place in an online classroom and can be done from your home or other location where you have a computer that meets the minimum system requirements including a headset with microphone and a digital pen and pad.

6. How will I tutor online? Is it similar to a classroom environment?
Grades Grow Tutors provides a virtual classroom similar to an actual classroom in many ways. Tutors have the ability to talk to their student, chat using instant messaging, write and explain problems on an interactive whiteboard, share files and papers, and browse educational resources on the Web to share with students.

7. What is the duration of one session?
Usually, the duration of one session is one hour for tutoring and five minutes for the tutor to enter a summary of the material covered during that session in the students online file.

8. Will I get the same student every day or do students keep changing?
A tutor may be assigned to teach students that sign up for any of our packages. There may be students looking for one time homework or content area help that only sign up for the half hour or one hour tutoring package. You may be assigned to tutor such student if your profile matches the students tutoring needs. In most cases, all students that sign up for the monthly or higher packages are assigned to a single tutor for that content area. We change the tutor only if students request another tutor or are unable to hold a regular schedule to commit with the tutor.

9. What are the technical requirements needed to be a tutor?
You need to have the following in order to be able to tutor with Grades Grow Tutors:

1. High speed Internet access (DSL/Cable/T1 with speed of 256 KB upload and 256 KB download or faster connection).
2. Windows XP with Service Pack 2
3. Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher
4. At least 512mb RAM, and a Pentium 3 or faster processor
5. Headset with microphone required.
6. Digital Pen and Pad Required

Do I have to pay to be certified by Grades Grow Tutors?
There are no costs to be paid to Grades Grow Tutors for the training or certification program. As a matter of fact, we will reimburse you a specific amount for the digital pen and pad cost after you complete 100 hours of tutoring with us.
