As we get a blog started to help students, parents, and tutors alike, we believe it is important to explain why we are doing what we are doing as an online tutoring service. Passion for enriching their own children, Higher Guidance and Destiny is the answer our co-founders give!
Sumeet and Daljit had been friends for eight years, sharing some really fun experiences in life. As busy working mothers, both of them frequently shared their challenges in quality play vs. educational time with their children. Strongly believing that we have to challenge our children to reach just a little beyond their comfort zone every day in order to help them grow as independent individuals, they tried weekly center based programs among others for revision and enrichment for Math and English.
One afternoon in October, 2007 – both read about online tutoring and shared with their spouses what a wonderful idea online tutoring was, and that someone should offer it so it was targeted to the curriculum of their children. Daljit thought she’d need Sumeet for the business and technology aspect; Sumeet knew she couldn’t do it without Daljit’s experience and background in teaching helping her. That evening, one friend called the other and found out that both of them had thought of the exact same idea and both had thought of each other. They took it as a sign from the Powers That Be, and got to work developing an online education platform that would be appropriate for their own children – Safe, Secure, and Enriching.
The company has since grown by leaps and bounds. They claim they wake up each day with a thought – how can we improve this today? It is obvious they implement it. Targeted curriculum trainings, detailed lesson plans, resources have been rolled out to improve the quality of our education plan and tutors. Automatic session recordings that capture each stroke and audio, mandatory periodic reviews of each tutor’s recordings by our quality team, background screenings, and tougher interviews are now the backbone of our Child Protection policy. Website redesign and technology improvements are underway to improve on the quality of technological platform.
The ultimate answer – we do it because our kids need a safe, positive, and targeted learning and enriching environment to grow!
