Online Tutoring and Home School - Why I Chose Both!

Being a shy person who is into computers and technology I came across online tutoring by accident one day when surfing the net. At first I was more interested than anything in the whole concept of learning online, how it worked, could it work? And what’s more what could it do for me?
After looking deeper into it, I decided it would actually be the perfect solution for me. I have never mixed with others easily and some in class would act like fools and waste time and their education, which of course brought me down too. The teacher couldn’t carry on with lessons while breaking up giggling and talking kids in the back of the class, the whole thing would disrupt lessons. Although I’m not a geek, my parents and I do take my education seriously and want to get the results I need to be able to move onto getting a college degree. We had already chosen home schooling as a preferred option.
So the whole online tutoring thing looked like just what I needed. I pictured myself getting up in the morning sitting down at my desk in front of my computer and signing into class, checking my schedule and then getting down to lessons. Now I just had to get my parents attention and get them to agree this was the future of learning.
I have a good relationship with my parents and they listened to me and we looked into the various tutoring services together. We came across Grades Grow Tutors and this one caught our attention. They provided one-on-one tutoring and mom and dad were happy because they also offer a parent-tutor conference over the phone. This meant they would be able to keep up with the progress I was making, or not, and it seemed like a good fit with their homeschooling philosophy.
I was pleased to see they supported many subjects, in fact all those found in school and the curriculum would be the same. Physics, Mathematics and English are my favorite subjects, so finding a math tutor, physics tutor and English tutor with Grades Grow Tutors would be no problem. The more we read, the more it made sense, so I signed up for lessons there and then with my parent’s full approval.
The progression I have made in my chosen subjects has been huge. In home school, I study the same hours as I would if I were attending regular school and then add some time in the middle with a different teacher than mom or dad – my online tutors. The whole of this time is just spent working. There are no distractions and stopping and starting while the teacher gets back control of the classroom, so my time isn’t wasted.
The kids I miss having around me in school I see after my home school and virtual lessons and the others of course I don’t miss one bit. If I’m sick and in bed, when I’m feeling a bit better then I can work for just a short time on the laptop in bed and if I’m stuck with anything then I know I can ask and it will be explained until I get it. It’s like having my very own teacher in my home and of course using the internet to get my lessons and work is easy as I have access to all the resources I need to help me learn. Not only do I have a school at home but also one of the biggest libraries in the world, the World Wide Web.
