How does online tutoring work?
Online tutoring works in much the same way as you or your child would learn in school or college. However there is a big advantage when it comes to learning online and this is that instead of being one among many in a class, the tutor will work one on one with you or your child. This is the equivalent of you sitting in a classroom right in front of the tutor and you have their sole attention. Your tutor is available when you need them, 24 hours a day for 7 days a week, when you need them. You or your child will not be left behind if something isn’t understood As you are the sole student the tutor can go over any material as many times as needed to ensure that you get it. The curriculum comes to you, not you to it!

What happens after I sign myself or my child up for tutoring?
Plain and simple, just think of the whole process as being the same as when enrolling in school or college. Your online learning environment will be a virtual classroom with you being the star pupil. After enrolling or signing up you can then choose your session times, dates, the subject or subjects you wish to study or need help with and then the company will get in touch with you to confirm this. Just like the classroom would have a traditional blackboard, there is a white board in the online classroom which is used by both the tutor and the student. However this is not the only means of communication, the tutor and the student talk to each other using VoIP (Voice over IP). This is a built in feature of the online classroom. Visual and audio communication ensures that a visual or auditor learner is able to grasp concepts as they are presented and discussed. Just as security is important in a school or college, the same applies online and the “classroom” will be closed to just the tutor and the student during the lesson.

Is the same curriculum taught online as in school or college?
Whichever subject you are studying online the curriculum used in an online learning environment will closely match the curriculum used in your state or district. If you or your child is studying material which may have been used previously in the classroom, then an initial assessment will be given. This will ensure that the same information will not be gone over again, and will allow the teacher to get to know you or your child better and will also determine the starting point from where the tutoring will begin.

Regardless of who you choose, method of communication, quality of tutors, security, and curriculum guidelines are important factors you should incorporate in your decision.
